Psychotherapy is a compassionate and collaborative space where what we have carried within us can be known and thought about. I use depth psychology from a relational psychodynamic frame in my work, which means I use the relationship between us as our guiding force as we explore and make sense of your experience. My approach is also informed by British Object Relations, attachment theory, neuropsychobiology, EMDR, and DBT. This means that I believe in the integration of cognition, feeling, and our unconscious and our early relationships drastically influence our current relational patterns. Often these relational patterns, whether we are conscious of them or not, are there to protect us, but can cause trouble or a stuck point for us in our lives. I believe deeply that change is possible and occurs through relationship. Together, we will consider your pain, need, beliefs, and about the creative yet costly ways you have defended yourself against hurt. The understanding that emerges over time in this slow process is a way of loosening knots and freeing movement towards growth.
I view therapy as a collaborative process. Together we will pay close attention to how your past links to the present, what you hesitate to say, and what you say that surprises you. I hope to partner with you to make sense of your unique story.
